We are now looking for an High Voltage Senior Authorised Person (HV SAP) for our Onshore Wind O&M Delivery team, part of Vattenfall’s Business Area Wind.
This full time permanent HV SAP role will initially support the construction and commissioning of the HV infrastructure at the 240MW South Kyle Wind farm located 5km to the east of Dalmellington, lying within both East Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway. Then post-construction this role will support the HV System Manager UK to operate and maintain availability of the HV networks in a safe and controlled manner, by applying consistent processes and procedures across all Vattenfall’s onshore wind & solar farms in the UK, whether work is being carried out by Vattenfall personnel or contractors. You will be responsible for much of the day-to-day HV switching at the South Kyle wind farm and some HV switching across our other UK sites but also contributing to the general HV standards.
Your job as an HV SAP (UK Onshore Wind):
In this position you will support the construction of the HV infrastructure at South Kyle wind farm and then maintain the safe HV operations once operational. You will also have some wider HV responsibilities across the UK onshore portfolio including implementing Vattenfall’s Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules, HV asset maintenance processes and managing our various external HV contractors. You shall formally report to the Head of Onshore O&M Delivery UK but for day to day tasks you will support the HV System Manager to ensure safe HV operational practices across Vattenfall’s onshore wind farms in the UK.
Main scope of your responsibilities are:
  • Support the construction of HV infrastructure at South Kyle wind farm
  • HV switching on 33kv and 132kv networks at South Kyle wind farm .
  • HV switching upon other UK wind & solar sites (whenever not engaged at South Kyle).
  • Support the execution of HV work on site in accordance with WTSR and Electrical Safety rules
  • Provide out of hours and weekend response in accordance with Vattenfall’s ERP
  • Carry out routine inspections of VF substations and co-ordinate any works required.
  • Produce risk assessments and method statements where required and maintain clear communications with field operatives.
  • Manage HV contractors & coordinate and communicate with third parties
  • Responsible for QHSE compliance according to Vattenfall’s procedures and UK legislation
Your profile as an HV SAP (UK Onshore Wind):
You will be a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) at 132 & 33kV and you will have prior experience of controlling HV networks. Ideally, you will be a Senior Authorised Person at 400 & 275kV and you will have an electrical and electronic engineering degree and or equivalent technical knowledge and experience. Technical knowledge of wind farm layouts will also be advantageous.
It is essential that you will have electrical engineering work experience in a relevant industry, ideally in the wind industry. Furthermore, you will have extensive experience as a Senior Authorised Person operating under company HV safety rules. HV fault finding and analysis experience will be advantageous.

South Kyle wind farm O&M building (near Dalmellington, Scotland). Travel to other Vattenfall sites and contractor’s offices within the UK /Europe will be required up to 35%.
