At the Center for Lightweight Production Technology (ZLP) in Augsburg, processes for manufacturing carbon fiber-reinforced composites (CFRPs) are being developed and automated. The goal is to achieve a digital, robot-assisted production system to make tomorrow's air travel carbon-neutral.

One promising technology is the deposition of carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastics using Automated Fiber Placement (AFP). This is an additive manufacturing process in which fiber-reinforced plastic prepregs are laid down by a robotic system. The material is heated by a heat source (laser) and consolidated instantaneously. The institute conducts interdisciplinary research in this field along the process chain, from component design and simulation to robot programming and manufacturing. Many exciting research questions for theses (Bachelor, Master), and internships arise in the process.

Feel free to apply for positions in the following areas:

  • CFK component design and FEM simulation
  • robot control and path planning
  • control and sensor technology in the AFP process
  • further development of the test facility
  • mechanical characterization of CFK laminates

For further impressions please have a look here:

  • studies in the field of Engineering, Computer Science or other related fields
  • above-average academic performance
  • ability to tackle tasks and implement projects
  • high motivation and independent work style
  • team spirit

Look forward to a fulfilling job with an employer who appreciates your commitment and supports your personal and professional development.
