For our institute of Vehicle Concepts in Stuttgart we are looking for
Student mechanical-, mechatronics engineering, computer science or similar (f/m/x)
Development of an intelligent engineer assistant using Large Language Models (LLMs)
What to expect:
Nowadays, Large Language Models (LLMs) are playing a significant role in processing large amount of knowledge and making it easily accessible to the users. For this reason, in almost every field and major industry, LLMs are being leveraged to perform different tasks, like for instance customer service, translation, etc. The remarkable capabilities of LLMs can be also exploited in engineering fields to help and guide engineers in their tasks. Moreover, LLMs can considerably facilitate the knowledge transfer process across different engineering teams. For these reasons, the aim of this master thesis is to integrate LLMs in engineering workflows and processes.
Within this context, you can make your contribution by:
  • locally installing and running LLMs
  • experimenting with different LLMs
  • integrating a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system
  • testing different prompt engineering techniques
  • testing different techniques for formatting LLM outputs (e.g.: json format, …)

  • good written and spoken English or German skills
  • very good python knowledge (keywords: LangChain, Ollama, embeddings, Chroma, …)

  • thorough, reliable and the ability to work independently
