Against this backdrop of growth, ‘product’ cyber – along with enterprise cyber – is ever more important. As a result, we are growing our team of System Security Engineers and now seek an enthusiastic, self-starting individual to play an important role in developing and implementing cyber security capability for our Defence products. In this role, your focus will be on helping to secure the range of Roll-Royce Defence products against an increasingly diverse and complex range of threats. You’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary team, working together to tackle technical challenges in a stimulating and collaborative environment. Rolls-Royce’s customers and the company have entrusted us to deliver the future technologies, people, processes and programmes. Successful delivery of these programmes will ensure both the UK and Rolls-Royce retains combat capability, ensuring freedom of action for the UK and enabling the company to maintain our market share in the combat market. What we’re looking for Future Programmes is looking for someone with drive, passion and commitment who is: A cyber security specialist with knowledge, experience or an interest in safety-critical embedded systems or An engineer (electrical, computer, software or systems), who understands safety-critical embedded systems and has an interest or experience in cyber security Educated to degree level in a STEM subject and/ or have experience in a relevant engineering environment (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical or Controls). Other qualifications, in combination with relevant experience, may also be considered. Knowledgeable in embedded systems and the technical skills required to develop, implement and secure such systems Experienced or interested in cyber security and cyber threats (e.g. experience of: designing secure networks, systems and applications; intrusion detection; IT forensics; disaster recovery; risk assessment tools and methods, end-point security solutions; security policies, standards and procedures etc.) Interested in novel and emerging technology solutions and how they might be used to enhance cyber security Outcome-focused, with good problem-solving abilities, including an aptitude for finding practical solutions to complex technical problems Able to work with a high degree of autonomy, across ambiguous or complex areas Collaborative and curious, with good communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information in a concise and logical way Qualifications: Work with programme, product and corporate teams to determine the technology and processes required to secure a range of Defence products and systems against cyber threats. Collaborate with government clients, our supply-chain and industry experts to enhance cyber security capability and tools across the Defence business. Identify new technological solutions to increase product cyber security and resilience, including identifying relevant emerging technologies and research areas. Develop and update cyber security good practice and help ensure the techniques, policies, procedures and knowledge to enable us to implement this good practice across the business.
