We are looking for a (Junior) Renewables Optimisation Expert (m/f/d).
 
You will be working in the Business Unit Customers. The Business Unit Customers is responsible for the Commodity and Renewables Origination business. We offer our customers the opportunity to trade on the relevant energy markets through our market access solutions, generate profitable origination transactions for Vattenfall and provide portfolio management services. In addition, we take over the optimization and market integration of the renewable energy plants. These activities form the basis for effectively managing risks for our customers and optimizing the procurement and production portfolio. We are leading provider in the market of green PPAs and corporate PPAs.
 
As a Renewables Optimisation Expert, you will
  • look after generating the best value out of wind and PV power production in various European markets with a focus on the short term (Day Ahead and intraday power markets)
  • manage daily optimisation tasks such as executing day-ahead bidding for the renewable energy portfolio and hedging positions up to 6 weeks ahead
  • use your analytical skills to gain insights into production forecasts and optimisation strategies
  • support our target of fully automated works flows, i.a. by driving the development of trading / optimisation algorithms
  • initiate, support and –as the case may be- execute IT implementation
  • monitor data flows and quality and pro-actively take actions
  • connect and cooperate closely with various other departments within BA Markets and Vattenfall as well as external clients
 
Your profile: 
  • You are enthusiatic about short term optimisation and its continuos improvement
  • You are able to balance the details required to optimise a large, distributed renewable portfolio with the “big picture”
  • Based on your analytical mind and skills, you can proactively identify opportunities and risks and initiate / take appropriate actions
  • You are decisive even under high workload and are comfortable in taking decisions under uncertainty
  • You enjoy working closely with other members of the team – sharing ideas and further developing the business together
 
Qualifications:
  • Academic degree in a quantitative field such as natural sciences, engineering, computer science or economics
  • Experience in European spot markets and in particular with marketing renewable power
  • Excellent analytical skills and a quick grasp
  • Expertise in quantitative methods and model development
  • Data and computer literacy incl. scripting or programming and advanced problem solving
  • Structured and precise approach to work
  • Excellent team and communication skills
  • Experience in projects is an asset
  • Ability to work under pressure and readiness to work on weekends
  • Excellent English language skills, written and verbal. German and Dutch are a plus.
 
Location: Hamburg, Germany with occasional business travel
 
The position is time limited (12 months).
