Within the Helmholtz Innovation Pool project Tangerine (Towards Next Generation Silicon Detectors), DESY offers a Ph.D position focused on the investigation of a 65 nm CMOS imaging technology to develop the next generation of pixel sensors. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team pushing silicon detectors to the next level. The Ph.D. project will cover the full life cycle of detector development, from Monte Carlo and TCAD simulation over sensor design studies to characterization studies of the first prototype generation.

- Master in physics with excellent grades
- Deep interest in detectors for particle physics, especially in silicon detector technology
- Good English language skills
- Very good teamwork, communication and presentation skills
- Experience in simulation and detector characterization are welcome
