Senior Credit Analyst 
 
The location for this position is Hamburg, Germany.
 
Vattenfall Group Risk Management aims to ensure long-term sustainable corporate development by providing state-of-the-art-support to decision-makers. Risk management not only provides transparency of risks versus opportunities, but also drives the processes for the identification, analysis, assessment and risk response. The department also carries out supervision of risks, risk reporting and relevant documentation. Group Risk Management is responsible for Risk Controlling, the ERM-process (Enterprise Risk Management) of the Group, relevant risk documents, providing a second opinion on operational risk issues, risk reporting and for the overall Risk Management development within the Vattenfall Group. Group Risk Management is looking to strengthen its Credit Risk Management team with an eager Part-Time Senior Credit Analyst (80%).
 
 
Your job as Senior Credit Analyst
 
In line with the new Group Risk Management organisation a functional organisation is implemented for Credit Risk Management. Currently credit risk processes are being streamlined to meet the challenges from an expanding and fast moving business. The Credit team consists of an international team of experts spread across Amsterdam and Hamburg. They perform counterparty evaluations, in-depth financial analyses, determine and monitor credit limits, as well as advise on mitigation measures. A thorough understanding and knowledge of cash flow, balance sheet and profit and loss analysis therefore is a must. In addition, the team is in the process of rolling out Credit Risk Management across Vattenfall and therefore it aims to set and support development of new credit standards and processes. The job requires developing sound cooperation, both with external and internal stakeholders. Internal stakeholders are other Vattenfall business units with customer/wholesale/supplier contacts, as well as other functions within Group Risk Management and Vattenfall Management.
 
 
Your responsibilities as Senior Credit Analyst
 
  • Take responsibility for portfolio of assigned counterparties (with particular emphasis on financial / physical trading)
  • Gather quantitative and qualitative data in order to perform a credit analysis of existing / potential customers, counterparties and suppliers with the aim to minimise potential and actual credit losses within the Vattenfall group
  • Allocate credit limits according to the Vattenfall risk mandate
  • Prepare appropriate credit recommendations for decision makers, including the Vattenfall Risk Committee
  • Actively seek possibilities for credit mitigation, recommend credit conditions
  • Negotiate and administrate master netting agreements (EFET, ISDA, CPMA, etc.) and credit support documents (CSA, letters of credit, etc.)
  • Analyse complex structured transactions and/or investment activities, as well as credit portfolios
  • Perform industry and peer analysis
  • Daily, weekly, monthly credit risk monitoring and reporting, as well as working in different projects within Credit Risk
  • Keep relevant business units informed of developments regarding specific industries, markets and counterparties (e.g. mergers, acquisitions, financial news, organisational changes)
  • Contribute towards improvement and development of credit risk management policies, procedures, tools and methodologies
 
 
Your qualifications as Senior Credit Analyst
 
  • Bachelor or Masters degree in Business or Economics or any other relevant study
  • Several years of work experience in an analytical function, preferable within credit risk management in the energy markets
  • Practical experience from areas relevant to the position, especially: analysis of counterparties, analysis of risks inherent in transactions and structuring of appropriate credit risk mitigation, origination and complex transactions, master netting agreement negotiation, credit portfolios with the aim of credit risk mitigation
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate in English on all levels of the organisation
  • Understanding of the commodity and energy markets (physical and financial), as well as an understanding of the needs of the internal / external customers in the Trading, Sales, Treasury or Investment Procurement business in all countries where Vattenfall is active
