The Bloomberg Data department is responsible for acquiring, interpreting and delivering data insights to our clients. The Data teams work collaboratively to collect, analyze, model and publish the data which is the backbone of our iconic Bloomberg Terminal - the data ultimately feeding and moving the financial markets.

Bloomberg Academy (Data) in Shanghai is an outstanding 4 day personal and professional development program for high potential STEM related degrees University students who will be graduating between September 2024 and August 2026 and who are particularly interested in a career in Bloomberg Data department. During the program, you’ll also have a chance to meet and hear from our Data employees to learn about what we do here and how to apply for our internship and graduate opportunities.

You will be exposed to a wide array of topics, people and activities. We will cover everything from Bloomberg Terminal functionality, enhance your programming and data analytics skills, and more! You will learn from some of the best in the industry and know how to apply this knowledge in a practical, fast-paced business environment.

Venue: Bloomberg Shanghai Office

You will need to be available to join us in-person and have the right to work for the full duration to be considered. Please note travel and accommodation will not be provided. 

• Introduction to Bloomberg and Data Department 
• Introduction on applying data concepts to financial markets and interactive training on the Bloomberg Terminal 
• Technical project to enhance your programming, data management and analytical skills
• Practical workshops on technical interview skills, including mock interviews with Bloomberg interviewers 
• Network, job shadow, and learn about a Day in the Life from members of our Data Department 
• Introduction to Bloomberg Philanthropies and volunteering work 
• Access to Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC), a 10-hour self-paced course that provides a visual introduction to the financial markets: Economics, Currencies, Fixed Income and Equities — woven together from Bloomberg data, news, analytics and television 
• Get an overview of our internship and graduate programs and the respective application process

Bloomberg Academy (Data) is a great way to learn more about our company and explore a potential career in Data.

• Graduating between September 2024 and August 2026
• Have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, or other STEM related field 
• Experience using technical skills such as programming, data modeling and statistical methods to solve problem
• Ability to prioritize and adapt to tasks accordingly
• Collaboration skills to work across departments and with global teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese
• Right to work in Shanghai for the duration of the Bloomberg Academy (Data) - Shanghai 

• Previous work, internship and/or academic experience in data analysis, financial market research and/or information technology
• A passion and curiosity about financial and economic data with the aspiration to work in the financial/fintech services industry
