ABOUT THIS ROLE
Based in Berlin, Audible is looking for an Associate Director, Accounting EU who will be responsible for the EU accounting activities and drive its processes, including financial closing, external audit, revenue calculation, royalties’ payment and other tax related requirements. Moreover, you will champion and support key initiatives inside our Finance & Accounting team. Reporting to the Director, Accounting Europe based in London, you strive, supported by other EU based colleagues, for smooth processes and an excellent experience for internal and external stakeholders.
As an Associate Director, Accounting EU, you will…
- Lead the Accounting function, supporting all EU marketplaces as an approachable subject matter expert
- Take responsibility for month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing of financial books according to HGB and US-GAAP for Audible GmbH
- Be responsible for ensuring a robust control environment is maintained, including balance sheet reconciliations and analytics for a range of global stakeholders
- Supervise and continuously improve the completion of the annual statutory audit
- Continuously improve the recurring accounting processes (monthly close, tax declaration, account payable/receivable, etc.), together with the team
- Partner with the global business for Audible Accounting within the Audible and Amazon group, liaising with central Accounting, Tax and Legal departments
- Prepare tax declarations and other Accounting reporting

- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- Experience in Excel (macros, index, conditional list, arrays, pivots, lookups)
- Knowledge of GAAP research tools and the FASB codification
- Knowledge of HGB
- Professionally qualified accountant (CPA / WP / GC / ACCA / CIMA / ICAEW)
- Post-qualification industry experience
- You will be leading accounting for the Business fluency in both English and German
- Effective interpersonal skills including persuasive written and oral communication to help you get your points across and build strong relationships with stakeholders
- Organizational skills, an ability to assess and manage risk, and the willingness to get into the details whilst also seeing and understanding the big picture
- Ability to deal with change and a pro-active can-do attitude will help you to keep up - Our business is always evolving and changing
- Ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams and stakeholders
