About the role and the team

The Detection & Enforcement Controls Implementation team is responsible for analyzing and interpreting data related to policy violations and compliance issues within the eBay organization, as well as designing effective policy enforcement controls. This role involves working closely with various teams to ensure that all activities align with regulatory requirements and company policies. Our team stays up-to-date on emerging risk trends and strategies by analyzing reports, collaborating with global teams to identify potential issues, and conducting ad hoc statistical analyses. We serve as a key partner to our global policy, regulatory, legal, and customer support teams.

What you will accomplish

• Develop comprehensive policy enforcement strategies to ensure compliance and operational efficiency by analyzing data from previous policy violations and other complex data sources.
• Implement, evaluate and deploy detection & enforcement controls (including AI-based). Create and maintain supporting documentation.
• Collaborate with teams to understand policy/legal requirements and translate them into enforcement control pipelines
• Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to improve policy enforcement strategies, ensuring data integrity and accuracy
• Promote standard methodology sharing across global teams as well as within own function, supporting shared learning
• Know the latest industry trends and developments in data analysis and policy enforcement
• Prepare regular reports on compliance and enforcement metrics for internal and external partners
• Assist in maintaining enforcement platforms and support deployments

What you will bring

• Proven analytical skills with previous experience as a data analyst or related role. Ability to define & clearly articulate success by metrics and data driven measurements
• Basic knowledge of machine learning including experience with LLMs as a user
• Experience in working with engineering teams
• SQL, Excel PivotTable, Tableau and other data visualisation experience. Some basic skills in R, Python etc. is a plus
• Ability to quickly understand different domains and efficiently work with subject-matter experts to gather knowledge
• Deep understanding and a proven track record in policy enforcement
• Ability to deliver executive level summary reports and presentations
• Ability to work effectively in an autonomous fashion
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field. PMP or PRINCE2, Six Sigma, Agile or other certifications a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in crowdsourcing a plus
