We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Controls Lead within the Rolls-Royce Submarines Business.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Regeneration of the Raynesway Nuclear Licenced Site. This once in a lifetime major infrastructure programme is replacing the current facilities with modern state of the art manufacturing capability.

Our Submarines Business is responsible for the design, manufacture, supply and through-life support of nuclear propulsion-related products and systems in support of the Royal Navy's submarine fleet. We support the Royal Navy as the Technical Authority for all UK Naval Reactor Submarine Plants, and we're continuing to build our nuclear sector capability to support the development of a new nuclear plant for future submarines.

For you, this means unique opportunities to shape the future of the Submarines business.

We are looking for a capable and proactive individual to join our growing team and be responsible for ensuring that engineering controls and governance are defined, implemented and managed. You will be working across multiple projects and lifecycle stages in order to ensure that the technical work packages under your responsibility meet both our engineering and project requirements.

You will be able to interact with various stakeholders both internal and external to the business in order to be successful.

Although experience of working with nuclear facilities is certainly advantageous, we invite applications from those that are interested in redeploying their existing capabilities in a new area. What is most important is having the right approach; you need to be someone who can work with and influence engineers not under your direct control so that engineering controls are deployed robustly and consistently across the whole programme.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Ownership and implementation of the Configuration and Engineering Management Plans.
    • Production of engineering management documentation, including interpreting and defining processes to be followed during the design, manufacturing, commissioning and installation of multidisciplinary work packages.
    • Definition and management of engineering baselines and modifications.
    • Control of engineering documentation, drawings and quality records.
    • Managing engineering change control, technical queries and concessions.
    • Definition and generation of suitable engineering metrics.
    • Ensuring that the above aspects are suitably integrated in the external supply chain.

    Qualifications and Experiences

    • You will be qualified to degree level or equivalent in a STEM subject.
    • You will also be a Chartered Engineer or hold an affiliate/associate membership of a relevant professional body and be working towards suitable professional registration.
    • You should be able to demonstrate an appreciation of the importance of robust engineering controls.
    • Clearly and concisely communicating information on broad and complex subjects to a range of stakeholders with different backgrounds.
    • Experience in a relevant highly regulated engineering environment.

We offer excellent development, a competitive salary and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts.

Pioneer the performance of the future. Join us and you’ll develop your skills and expertise to the very highest levels, working in an international environment for a company known the world over for brilliance and innovation.

    Beyond tomorrow

We are an equal opportunities employer. We’re committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment.
