The mission of the AWS Fraud Prevention Team is to keep the AWS platform a safe and trusted place for our customers and partners. We achieve this goal by identifying and preventing fraud for all AWS services, worldwide. Every day fraudsters attempt to steal our services. We use extensive data and machine learning models to build software solutions to detect and prevent such activities.
The AWS Fraud Prevention Compromise team is responsible for preventing, detecting and mitigating AWS account compromise. You’ll be part of a team that consists of Data Scientists, Data Analysts and Program Managers. Our team’s mission is to protect AWS and its customers from the damage arising from compromise fraud.

Key job responsibilities
As a Fraud Investigation Analyst, you will work closely with Data Scientists to monitor the fraud trends on AWS worldwide and leverage your analytical and data skills to deep dive on a myriad of fraud activity. You will be at the forefront of keeping under a tight control the issues impacting the Cloud industry to ensure AWS is leading the curve in identifying, mitigating and preventing fraud attacks. As a Business Analyst your responsibilities will include:
- Identify new and emerging patterns of compromise fraud and proactively take actions to improve efficiency and reduce time to identify new fraud techniques, tactics and procedures.
- Use statistical analysis to segment customer behavior and develop targeted solutions to prevent sophisticated fraud activity.
- Report on daily fraud trends and cluster characteristics, perform deep dives and write summaries.
- Analyze emerging fraud Modus Operandis, design mitigation actions and communicate it to the larger fraud community. Partner with Data Scientists to build long-term counter protections.
- Lead and contribute on special projects which reduce fraud related losses, while maintaining focus on a positive customer experience.
- Design and influence operational best practices within the AWS Fraud Prevention Compromise team.
- Work with cross-functional teams across Amazon/AWS for collaboration on fraud risks and preventative measures to mitigate fraud risk.
- Work with stakeholders to drive process improvements that will impact internal and external customers.
About the team
Utility Computing (UC)
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
- Experience in business or financial analysis
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience with SQL
- Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders
- Experience in Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, array functions, power pivots, etc.) and data visualization tools such as Quicksight.
- Experience working with large scale databases and relational data set solutions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment while prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities.
