Head of Retail Bank Strategists – Deutsche Bank Group Strategic Analytics (f/m/x)
Position Overview
Details of the role and how it fits into the team As the Head of Retail Bank Strategists, you will combine your expertise in quantitative analytics, modeling, pricing, and risk management with an understanding of the retail banking sector. You will build and apply quantitative methods, models and analytics to support the businesses of the Retail Bank to manage clients, resources, funding costs, and capital efficiency across a diverse portfolio of retail products including loans, mortgages, and deposits. You will play a critical role in driving alignment across Front Office, Treasury, Risk, and Finance for financial resource calculations, ultimately enhancing profitability and strategic decision-making. Your key responsibilities Pre-deal Pricing Strategy: Lead the development of mSVA methodology for pricing retail loan, mortgage, and deposit products. Drive integration with Retail Platforms and distribution channels, focusing on cost reduction through shared/strategic infrastructure Funding & Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP): Model and manage funding costs and funds transfer pricing for retail products. Oversee the implementation of standard infrastructure for funding booking, reflecting all-in FTP rates globally, to reduce cost, operational risk, and enable granular profitability analysis Liquidity Management: Develop, implement, and enhance liquidity models specifically for retail banking products, driving P&L improvements Risk Management & Hedging: Generate and report End-of-Day (EOD) risk and P&L for retail banking books. Develop and implement hedge pricing and execution tools. Oversee regulatory stress testing (dEVE and dNII) for retail portfolios, driving cost reduction through decommissioning legacy systems and utilizing shared infrastructure for business-driven risk management Capital Optimization: Design and implement analytical tools to review spot and forward capital needs, understand drivers of month-on-month RWA / Leverage changes, analyze historical default data, and project Credit Loss Provisions (CLPs). Partner with business to drive strategies to improve Return on Equity (ROE) and Shareholder Value Added (SVA) by proactively identifying capital drivers and managing business/product mix Profitability Analysis: Develop robust capabilities to measure and analyze profitability and ROE at various levels (client segment, region, product, business) for retail banking. Leverage these insights to improve ROE and SVA and strategically steer client and product pricing Business Expertise & Alignment: Provide deep business expertise in quantitative analytics, modeling, pricing, and risk management of retail loan, mortgage, and deposit portfolios. Drive alignment and collaboration across Front Office, Treasury, Risk, and Finance teams for all retail financial resource calculations
Your skills and experiences Master's, PhD or equivalent qualification in Financial Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a similar highly quantitative field Strong quantitative and analytical skills with a proven track record of applying them to complex financial problems Strong computing and programming skills, with extensive experience in C++ and Python Familiarity with funding or banking businesses and markets, with a strong understanding of retail banking products Experience with interest rate risk or credit risk modeling, particularly within a retail context Demonstrated experience with managing capital efficiency and understanding its drivers Proven ability to lead and deliver complex projects, integrating technical solutions with business strategy Strong English communication and presentation skills are required; German proficiency is a plus
