Position Overview
Details of the role and how it fits into the team
The Lead AI Engineer delivers high-quality, insightful analysis to internal stakeholders in a timely manner, addressing both current and future business needs. This position utilizes advanced AI capabilities and research methods to generate valuable insights for senior stakeholders, identify automation opportunities in agent development, and enhance AI assistance. The Lead AI Engineer reports to the Team Lead of the Data Analytics and AI team in Berlin and serves as the thought leader for the Audit Technology Team.
As a Center of Excellence, the team supports the entire Group Audit function by providing data analytics, AI services, and automation solutions. In this newly established team, the Lead AI Engineer will play a key role in pioneering projects and supporting Group Audit in developing innovative and effective processes essential for the team's success.
Your key responsibilities
Design and Development of AI models in particular within area of Natural Language Processing and GenerativeAI
Broad knowledge to explore, implement, train and evaluate identified AI models and their respective MLOps activities with Python and Project Jupyter toolset
Deep experience in developing self-service analytics solutions using Python and SQL with proven footprint to deliver AI solutions within hybrid and native cloud technologies with OpenShift and Google Cloud Platform
Driving software engineering principles within the team adopting market’s best practices alongside with DB’s principles and procedures to deliver high-quality solutions through coding, system testing and documentation
Defining data-driven solutions regarding data ingest, transformation, reporting and machine learning capabilities based on latest design principles. Identify automation opportunities and develop solutions that simplify data delivery processes and make them more efficient with AI-enhanced workflows and agents.
Leading product management to shape future AI solutions based on entire lifecycle from defining requirements with stakeholders until their deployment of implemented features
Your skills and experiences
Master’s degree (or equivalent) from an accredited college or university (or equivalent) in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science etc.) or equivalent work experience ideally in the banking industry.
Several years of working experience as data scientist or AI engineer ideally using Python, SQL and Docker Micro Services
Experience on development frameworks for both frontend and backend (e.g. Python Pandas, NumPy, Flask)
Deep knowledge of big data analytics/AI architectures (i.e. Data Mesh, Data Lakehouse, MCP, RAG) on hybrid cloud environments in particular OpenShift and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Multiple years of experience in finance industry, internal audit functions or high regulated environments is considered a plus
