Rates&Credit Dealer-to-Client eTrading (D2C) Modernisation

The D2C platform provides liquidity on Bonds, Rates Derivatives, Credit Derivatives, Repo, and ETFs to Deutsche Bank’s Institutional Clients. It connects with 10+ leading multi-dealer platforms, streamlining electronic and voice trading requests, routing liquidity to relevant Trading desks, and automating execution logic.

As part of our platform modernization program, we are re-architecting core systems, building modern React-based web UIs, and migrating backends to the cloud to enhance scalability, resilience, and client experience.

As a Lead Java Engineer (f/m/x) you will take a leading role in one of the largest transformation programs in the electronic trading industry. You will drive architectural decisions, enforce technical standards, and ensure our modernization aligns with international regulations, compliance requirements, and the highest levels of security and scalability.

Your key responsibilities

  • Take a leading role in the modernization and cloud migration of one of the world’s largest trading platforms
  • Enforce architectural principles, coding standards, and best practices across backend and frontend teams
  • Migrate backend services to the cloud ensuring scalability, resilience, and security
  • Drive the design and development of modern React-based web interfaces and their integration with backend trading services
  • Ensure compliance with international regulations and support internal and external audits, security assessments, and penetration tests
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders, architects, and engineers across business and technology teams
  • Mentor and guide other engineers, helping to build a high-performing development culture

Your skills and experiences

  • Deep expertise in either Java, with strong hands-on experience
  • Proven track record of designing and developing distributed, high-performance, and scalable systems
  • Strong experience in cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Solid knowledge of modern software architecture (microservices, event-driven systems, APIs, messaging middleware)
  • Strong understanding of frontend engineering at scale (React, TypeScript, testing frameworks, performance optimization)
  • Advanced knowledge of backend engineering (Java concurrency, multithreading, networking, JVM tuning, performance profiling)
  • Experience in CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, observability (logging, metrics, tracing)
  • Ability to review, challenge, and improve designs and codebases of other engineers
