Structured Trade & Export Finance (STEF) advises on and arranges medium and long-term bilateral and syndicated loans to finance clients’ imports, exports, and investments in both emerging and developed markets. The business collaborates with export credit agencies (ECAs), multilateral and bilateral institutions and private risk insurers (PRIs) to mitigate counterparty risks. Due to the global economy’s multi-dimensional transformation (energy, supply chains, and commodity security), the demand for ECA financing is increasing in all regions.

Underlying projects typically comprise investments in infrastructure and production facilities driven by commercial, political and/ or social considerations, e.g. in power generation and distribution including renewables, steel, rail and road infrastructure, mining, education and healthcare as well as water infrastructure. The client universe includes corporates, financial institutions and sovereigns.

The STEF Germany Sales & Structuring Team is responsible for the markets Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Central and Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Ukraine and the Community of Independent States (CIS). It is part of Deutsche Bank’s global STEF team spread across 10 locations worldwide. • You take responsibility to drive our business development: Proactively drive the business development in the CIS region by identifying new business opportunities for ECA covered transactions and analyzing client requests to deliver financing proposals in alignment with STEF’s and CB’s strategic goals

  • You execute deals: Lead negotiation and closing of ECA and PRI covered deals, as well as execution of complex large-scale transactions with other internal / external stakeholders, ensuring successful outcomes and fostering long-term client relationships

  • You calculate pricing: Accurately determine pricing structures, ensuring they comply with STEF’s profitability and financial targets

  • You perform country and counterparty creditworthiness analyses: Evaluate the financial stability of countries and clients, providing detailed reports to inform decision-making processes

  • You engage with STEF colleagues worldwide: Cooperate with team members in various locations, promoting a cohesive and productive work environment

  • You support initiatives increasing business efficiency: Constantly review existing processes/ approaches of doing business and contribute to strategic exercises with other STEF team members from various locations to increase efficiency

Your skills and experiences

  • University degree in a relevant field, ideally covering project-related finance and environmental/ social aspects

  • 10+ years in banking and finance, with proven experience in taking the lead in structuring and executing mid-/long-term ECA covered financing transactions

  • Deep knowledge in ECA processes, credit due diligence, LMA documentation, handling of Non-Financial-Risk topics and ESG due diligence for ECA-backed loans

  • Proven client engagement in CIS but also across Europe, Africa and/or the Middle East

  • Fluent in German, English and Russian; Ukrainian and/ or a language from CIS countries are a plus

  • Strong analytical, IT (including but not limited to MS Office), and interpersonal skills; resilient, proactive, fond of travelling and team-oriented
