High temperature phase transitions in non-stoichiometric metal oxides for solar fuel production
You will join the Institute of Future Fuels in Cologne on its mission to drive forward the development and production of carbon free and zero-emission green fuels Carbon free fuels play a major role to reach the global goals of greenhouse gas reduction. A promising pathway to produce Hydrogen 100% renewable is the so-called solar thermochemical water-splitting. This process is carried out at temperatures above 800 °C and powered by concentrated solar radiation. High performance materials, with a suitable reduction and oxidation potential that can incorporate and emit oxygen without negatively influencing their structural integrity, are necessary to run this process efficiently. Non-stoichiometric oxides, such as Perovskites, are outstanding candidates for this application. Your mission will be the investigation of structural changes and phase transitions in Perovskites at high temperatures. A better understanding of the influence of structural changes on the materials thermodynamics is the main goal of your work. Hands-on practical work will be complemented by the evaluation of experimental and theoretical data in a computed model. Become a part of an international team of experienced researchers and benefit from our well-equipped chemistry and engineering laboratories. Throughout your work you will also get the chance to experience and learn about other activities in our institute, attend regular meetings and update calls as well as visit our solar facilities in Cologne and Jülich.
Look forward to a fulfilling job with an employer who appreciates your commitment and supports your personal and professional development. Our unique infrastructure offers you a working environment in which you have unparalleled scope to develop your creative ideas and accomplish your professional objectives. Our human resources policy places great value on a healthy family and work-life-balance as well as equal opportunities for persons of all genders (f/m/x). Individuals with disabilities will be given preferential consideration in the event their qualifications are equivalent to those of other candidates. |
