We, the BMW Group, offer you an interesting and varied master's thesis in the area of autonomous driving perception. In autonomous driving, state-of-the-art deep neural networks are used for perception tasks like, for example, semantic segmentation or object detection. While the environment in datasets is controlled, in real world application novel classes or unknown disturbances can occur. These cases need to be identified to support safe autonomous driving. Active learning is used to select the most informative samples for annotation and to cover a dataset with as less annotated data as possible. What awaits you? Close collaboration in a team within the BMW research department. Explore different active learning approaches for autonomous driving perception. Evaluating approaches for out of distribution detection and corner case detection in autonomous driving. You are working on state-of-the-art techniques and develop novel approaches on a cluster infrastructure. Please note that your thesis must be supervised by a university on your part. What should you bring along? Strong knowledge in machine learning. Knowledge in computer vision. Strong programming skills.
