Accelerator research at DESY is being sustainably expanded within the framework of the Helmholtz ARD programme, which focuses on the establishment and coordination of research for future accelerators throughout Germany. DESY concentrates on conventional and plasma-based electron accelerators with applications in health, photon science, and particle physics. In this context, we are searching for a scientist with a strong background in laser-plasma acceleration and secondary radiation sources to work on developing the PLASMED X all-optical X-ray source for industrial and medical applications
- Development of the X-ray source, with focus on increasing photon number and reducing bandwidth
- Development and implementation of novel X-ray diagnostics
- Cooperation and collaboration with scientists performing imaging experiments

Limited: 2 years
- PhD in Physics or equal qualifications
- Several years of experience in the field of experimental high-intensity laser-plasma physics
- Experience with particle-in-cell modelling
- Extensive experience in X-ray generation and detection methods
- Interest in machine learning and optimisation techniques
