As we expand our presence in Germany, we're seeking a Principal Sales Specialist to drive strategic database initiatives and shape the future of cloud database adoption in the region.
Role Overview:
As a Principal Sales Specialist, you'll serve as the premier technical and business leader for database transformation initiatives across Germany. You'll drive C-level engagement, shape regional database strategy, and architect complex migration programs for our largest enterprise customers.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute the strategic vision for database transformation across the German market, working directly with senior executives to drive large-scale modernization initiatives
• Lead architectural decisions for mission-critical database migrations involving complex heterogeneous environments (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.)
• Create and implement innovative go-to-market strategies that drive database adoption at scale across the German enterprise segment
• Serve as the senior technical advisor to German leadership team on database transformation opportunities and market dynamics
• Build and manage strategic relationships with key technology partners and system integrators to accelerate market adoption
• Mentor and develop other database specialists across the region
Impact & Scope:
• Direct influence on €500M+ revenue opportunity across German market
• Strategic oversight of database transformation for key German enterprises
• Leadership of cross-functional teams across sales, solutions architecture, and professional services
• Development of repeatable solutions that can scale across EMEA region
This role requires exceptional strategic thinking, deep technical expertise, and proven ability to drive transformation at Germany's most prestigious enterprises. The successful candidate will shape AWS's database strategy in one of our most important European markets while working with senior leadership to accelerate cloud adoption across the region.

• 15+ years of enterprise technology experience with deep expertise in database technologies and cloud transformation
• Proven track record of driving €100M+ strategic technology initiatives with Fortune 500 companies
• Executive presence and ability to influence C-level decision makers at Germany's largest enterprises
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Advanced technical knowledge of both traditional enterprise databases and cloud-native database services
• German language skills
• Experience with German retail, manufacturing, telco, media, or entertainment sectors
• Track record of thought leadership through speaking engagements and publications
• Previous experience leading large-scale digital transformation initiatives
• Advanced degrees in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
