Join the world class safety culture at Amazon Web Services (AWS) and be part of supporting the largest cloud computing infrastructure team as a Regional Safety Engineer. This role is for an experienced Safety Specialist or Safety Engineer. You will be part of a regional and global team that works with internal and external partners to maintain and enhance the safety of operations. Your primary responsibility will be to support the safety operations for Data Centers. You will work in lose collaboration with onsite physical security, vendors, compliance officers, risk management,experts in security, construction, logistics, corporate counsel, and human resources to further the global health and safety program. You will partner with employees as well as contractors to achieve health and safety goals and improve our safety culture.
As AWS increases data capacity you will work with construction managers to ensure risks are identified and mitigated prior to live operations. You will be in a fast-paced environment where operations are rapidly changing, and you will be responsible for advocating safe changes in the face of new infrastructure, new tools, and new products and processes.
You must be an effective communicator, sending clear, concise and consistent messages verbally, in written form, and/or public speaking forums. You will advise, instruct and train company personnel on safety policies and procedures, as well as assist the teams in incorporating and improving our safety standards at their sites.
Some domestic and international travel is required.
Key job responsibilities
- Implement safety standards, policies and best practices.
- Develop and deliver training material/content to support achievement of H&S objectives. Manage the training database for all employees and ensure all H&S training requirements are fulfilled.
- Ensure compliance and implementation of global safety programs and local regulatory legislation.
- Develop and review safety plans for on-site emergencies and new builds.
- Perform safety data analysis and create benchmarking to ensure accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives.

- Experience in implementing safety programs, processes and procedural documentation.
- Experience in working across multiple legal jurisdictions/ countries in EMEA.
- Experience in Data center, manufacturing, construction, or similar industry with mix of full-time employees and 3rd party contractors.
- Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and monitor compliance to health and safety laws in various countries.
- Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems.
