Safety Engineer Derby Bristol Solihull Vollzeit JR6083588 Stellenbeschreibung An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Safety Engineer to join the Rolls-Royce Electrical (RRE) team. As a Safety Engineer you will ensure that the safety and reliability attributes of our products and systems are understood and that the risks arising from them are managed to an acceptable level. This role involves the integration of many areas of knowledge and expertise to create and support complex systems that enable reliable system operation under highly challenging conditions. In this position you will support our engineering products throughout their entire life cycle; working with Design, System, Service, and Airworthiness Engineers to ensure our products meet company, customer and regulatory requirements for the system safety and reliability. Rolls-Royce Electrical (RRE) is part of Rolls-Royce Holdings plc having a global footprint that supports all our operating sectors of Civil Aerospace, Defence, and Power Systems. Current activities in RRE are focused on the development of electrical propulsion systems, including electrical power generation, energy storage, and electrical power distribution. Key Accountabilities: Serve as the Safety Programme Lead for Safety & Reliability during New Product Introduction, therefore responsible for creating and/or supervising all safety and reliability assessments within an aerospace product development environment. Understand the product's degradation and failure mechanisms, their associated consequences and the hazards to which they contribute. Develop and deploy models to characterize them using deterministic or probabilistic/data mining techniques. Create a common understanding of safety requirements with designer, customer and supplier, translate them into design requirements and control the implementation during the development process. Control implementation of safety requirements at supplier level. Perform complex safety assessments: (FHA/FTA/PSSA/SSA/CCA/FME(C)A/ZSA/PRA) according to aerospace standards and be skilled in the usage of safety assessment tools e.g. ITEM toolkit etc. Define functional safety requirements on the basis of Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), create and maintain the fault tree analysis (FTA). Supervise and coach Particular Risks Analysis (PRA), Failure Mode Effect and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) and other forms of risk assessments. Qualifications: Degree level qualification in electrical engineering, mechatronics, aerospace, natural science or equivalent. Industry experience in creating and handling of any hazard assessment, fault tree analysis, FMECAs and Common Cause Assessment. Good working knowledge in statistics, probability and reliability prediction. Experience in working with ARP4761 and ARP4754A or comparable industrial norm (e.g., ISO 26262). Technical experience in the deployment of Safety and/or Reliability engineering tools and methods, ideally ITEM toolkit. Have experience in requirement engineering and requirement engineering tools. Ideally be skilled in hybrid-electric propulsion systems as well as conventional aerospace propulsion system. We offer excellent development, a competitive salary and exceptional benefits.
