DESY, with more than 2900 employees at its two locations in Hamburg and Zeuthen, is one of the world's leading research centres. Its research focuses on decoding the structure and function of matter, from the smallest particles of the universe to the building blocks of life. In this way, DESY contributes to solving the major questions and urgent challenges facing science, society and industry. With its ultramodern research infrastructure, its interdisciplinary research platforms and its international networks, DESY offers a highly attractive working environment in the fields of science, technology and administration as well as for the education of highly qualified young scientists.
The synchrotron light source PETRA Ill is one of the core facilities at DESY and offers scientists outstanding opportunities for experiments with hard X-rays of very high brilliance since 2009. To ensure the high availability of the facility and a low fault rate the operation of the accelerator must be continuously improved and the high beam quality has to be continuously monitored. We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join our PETRA Ill operation and accelerator physics team. The candidate will become a machine expert and should have strong interest in the daily operation of the storage ring.
- Responsibility for the smooth and high-performance operation of the PETRA Ill synchrotron light source
- Strong and pro-active involvement in the daily storage ring operation
- Participation in the coordination and reporting of the accelerator operation of PETRA Ill
- Advice, support and train operators in the control room
- Planning, execution and analysis of accelerator physics and machine development studies for PETRA Ill and in preparation of PETRA IV
- Participation in the fault tracking and analysis
- Integrate your own scientific interests into the R&D activities for PETRA Ill and PETRA IV
Look forward to a unique working environment on our international research campus. Respectful cooperation and the well-being of our DESY employees are particularly important to us.
