Job Summary:
The Service Project Engineer / TFA is a critical role within our hydropower business.
Voith Hydro has initiated the establishment of new service hubs as well as the development of existing ones at strategic locations worldwide, with Australia being a newly created Service hub.
This role is responsible for providing overall project Engineering and Technical Support on assigned projects in Australia and New Zealand related to hydroelectric power plant equipment installation, refurbishment, modernization, and R&M projects, including but not limited to turbine, generator, balance of the plant electrical & mechanical and automation/digital.
Main Target:
Providing Engineering and Technical services to the Voith Hydro HyServices team in Australia and New Zealand to ensure the successful execution of Service projects in accordance with our customers requirements.
In doing so, enhance customer relationships to ensure the growth of the VH HyService portfolio, considering OPEX, CAPEX, Spares, Automation, and Digital business
Key Responsibilities:
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide Engineering and technical expertise, guidance and technical supervision to the HyService team and our customers throughout the life cycle of assigned projects.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during planning, construction, refurbishment, maintenance, and commissioning activities.
- Prepare specifications for subcontracted works to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
- Prepare repair methodologies
- Prepare and/or review Quality documentation
- Ensure that all engineering work complies with industry standards and regulations.
- Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documents.
- Oversee on-site construction and installation activities to ensure compliance with project plans.
- Complete condition assessments of plant, and prepare condition assessment reports including recommendations, and solutions to identified issues.
- Prepare Technical documentation and technical reports, utilizing the internal network of Voith Engineering experts for support as required.
- Be the face to the Customer for Engineering and technical topics.
- Support the Service Manager(s) and HyService Sales Manager prepare proposals (cost, schedule, scope, quality, etc.) in line with contract requirements and customer specifications.
- Maintain good working relations with customers and suppliers, both internal and external.
- Make logical decisions under extreme pressure to resolve customers’ problems.
- Create and manage NCRs and conduct RCAs as needed.
- Liaise with the Voith internal network of Engineers to successfully execute projects.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support the Business Development activities being deployed in the region.
- During the business development phase, support the ANZ team:
- Identify tooling and equipment requirements for the ANZ HyService hub, prioritizing the needs as the business grows.
- Build relationships with Customers
- Support local team members and be willing to work outside specific areas of responsibility.
- Support the development of local procedures, processes, and systems.
- Provide mentoring and training to HyService team members.
Personal Profile:
The Service Project Engineer / TFA is a self-motivated, reliable and dynamic individual capable of leveraging their relationships to deliver Engineering and Technical solutions to Hydro projects.
They hold a qualification in Either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or possesses equivalent industry experience with corresponding relevant work history.
He/she must also possess a minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in the hydro power sector or a supporting industry.
The candidate must possess:
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- proficiency in software and tools such as CAD is an advantage.

- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- exceptional organizational skills
- the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- leadership and decision-making capabilities
- a keen eye for accuracy and attention to detail
- highly developed report writing and technical capabilities
- the ability to consistently prioritize and efficiently complete multiple tasks within given deadlines, even with minimal supervision, is critical.
The Service Project Engineer / TFA must be willing to travelling throughout Australia and New Zealand to work on customer / project sites in remote locations, and follow up with suppliers, with the ability to work in industrial environments.
