Software Development Engineer

Stellen-ID: 2594798 | Amazon Web Services Development Center Germany GmbH - R28

BESCHREIBUNG

Come build the future of Linux at Amazon with the Amazon Linux Team!

If you are an experienced software developer who is passionate about building the platform to support the world’s premier cloud computing environment, then this is the job for you.

The Amazon Linux Team is responsible for building and maintaining the Linux distribution that powers Amazon Web Services (AWS) with a focus on Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2). We're also responsible for tools associated with the performance characterization, qualification, build and deployment of our Linux platforms.

We are looking for Software Development Engineers who are experienced developing high quality software in a Linux environment, and know at least one scripting language like Python, Ruby, or Perl.

Our team owns release excellence. We build tools that support developers in testing their software before releasing it. Experience with software testing and software quality assurance is beneficial.

We develop software in collaborative manner. We prefer candidates with experience in contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
Furthermore, or end goal is to fully automate releases in CI/CD style. We therefore prefer candidates with experience with version control systems, CI/CD and test automation tools.

Utility Computing (UC)
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS. Within AWS UC, Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) roles engage with AWS customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Key job responsibilities
Working backwards from the customer you build, maintain, and improve the tools and services that ensure every Amazon Linux release meets the high quality bar. You work with developers and leaders to raise the bar with every release. You communicate effectively through written communication. Your support your peers and junior colleagues in their growth. You strive to improve both your skills and the work you deliver.

A day in the life
You enjoy our flexible work schedule and start working at a time in the morning that aligns best with your private situation. We have a tram stop directly in front of our office building, alternatively a private car park or our spacious bike locking room with separate showers.

For lunch, people often go out in groups, or meet in our winter garden or up on the roof terrace. The occasional coffee chat or water-cooler talk keeps you connected to neighboring teams.

If its Friday you will either give or attend a technical talk and enjoy some pizza or barbecue after.
