    The vision of the 2020 founded DLR Institute of Future Fuels is to develop technological solutions for harvesting large amounts of solar energy in the sunbelt regions of the earth and use it together with the renewable resources water and air to produce fuels cost efficiently.     The Industrial business of ACCIONA is part of the ACCIONA Group. ACCIONA is a leader in providing sustainable solutions for infrastructure and renewable energy projects across the world since more than 50 years, focusing its strategy on increasing its portfolio of projects based on renewable energy and backing clean and competitive technologies as a determining factor. The ACCIONA Industrial business line is specialized in EPC (turnkey) industrial projects with a strong technological component and carries out its activities in eight lines of business: Thermal Power Generation, Photovoltaic Power Generation, Hydroelectric Power Generation, Wind Power Generation, Transmission Networks and Substations, Facilities and Alternative Energy Sources.

    You will work at the Cologne site for three months (Germany) and later for another three months at the Morón Concentrated Solar Power plant, in Morón, Spain. It is your task to evaluate the techno-economic feasibility of substituting the state-of-the-art HTF with HELISOL® XLP in this existing commercial power plant in direct coordination with ACCIONA Industrial.

    All components affected by the HTF exchange (e.g. pumps, heat exchangers) will be looked at in detail to determine all components that have to be exchanged or modified as well as to identify the corresponding CAPEX investment implications. Then, changes in performance at component level will be calculated which implies the performance of the solar field and the power block as well as to identify the corresponding OPEX changes implications.

    Finally, the cost of the exchange scenario will be presented and analysed in terms of internal rate of return. This must include the CAPEX above mention implications (possible modification existing components, new HTF and disposal of the old HTF) and the new performance of the power plant including the OPEX changes.
