ABOUT THIS ROLE
Audible is seeking an experienced and dynamic Associate Director of Original Content for our German marketplace. This role will be instrumental in developing and creating Audible Original audiobooks, audio dramas, and podcasts, with a strong focus on local German titles and content with global potential in multiple languages. You will manage a diverse slate of titles that they oversee editorially, working at the intersection of publishing and entertainment.
This position is open through a 24 months contract.
As an Associate Director, Original Content DE, you will…
- Lead the identification, development, and production of German Original content opportunities (Entertainment and Publishing), from ideation to release
- Build and maintain a roster of German publishing and entertainment partners (talent agencies, literary agents, media groups, publishing partners, rights-owners and production companies)
- Take on supervisory editorial responsibilities for projects already in development for release in 2026 and beyond, managing a roster of freelancers and partners
- Work cross-functionally with Production, Business Affairs, PR and Marketing to ensure all Originals are delivered and published within business-critical timelines, and to the highest standards
- Scout for high-potential emerging authors, content creators, and innovative formats in Germany
- Supervise creative localization efforts, working with global teams

- Bachelor's degree or above in a relevant field
- Experience in entertainment and/or publishing, with a strong focus on editorial/storytelling
- Experience managing multiple high-profile projects simultaneously; outstanding project management skills must be demonstrable
- Experience commissioning or acquiring content for a major publisher or media company
- Experience and knowledge of the German publishing and entertainment landscape
- Editorial skills, particularly in structural editing of manuscripts
- Experience in project management and organization
- Business fluency in German and English
- Experience in audio production or podcasting
- Existing network and relationships within the German publishing and entertainment industries
- Understanding of data-driven content strategy
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial approach to content development
- Passionate about audio storytelling and the evolution of the publishing industry
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Strong communicator and collaborator, able to work effectively across departments and with external partners
- Creative thinker with a finger on the pulse of current trends in entertainment and literature
