The offered position is part of the Helmholtz ROCK-IT project, which focuses on pioneering automated measurements in catalysis using synchrotron radiation techniques. ROCK-IT represents a joint venture among Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY), Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB), Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), and Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT). This position is a key component in enhancing operational Cyber Security in the federated cloud infrastructure within the Helmholtz Association which covers 18 research centres in Germany. You will contribute to establish optimal IT security for numerous distributed components of the Helmholtz-wide research landscape, thus enabling scientists to fester their research in a secure, reliable and sovereign way. This role highlights the importance of collaborative efforts in the realm of Cyber Security through the Helmholtz-wide IT platform HIFIS. This role is positioned within the DESY IT department and maintains a strong connection to the Photon Science department, supporting beamlines at the X-ray laser FLASH and the synchrotron radiation source PETRA III.
- In collaboration with partners in the Helmholtz Association and HIFIS, you will co-design a security concept for research-oriented federated services at Helmholtz sites and partners
- You will co-develop and adapt security-relevant procedures and policies suitable for implementation at research facilities in Helmholtz
- You will map the jointly developed concepts and procedures to the conditions at DESY in close collaboration with the DESY IT-security department

Limited: 2 years
- Masters degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, electrical engineering or related subject, or comparable knowledge
- You have basic knowledge in the field of cyber security and you are willing to develop this knowledge further, especially for distributed environments
- Knowledge in the development and implementation of IT solutions
- Basic knowledge of a common programming language and shell programming
