Team / division overview

The Real Estate division of DWS is a full-service Real Estate manager, it acquires and manages investments in individual assets or real estate portfolios on behalf of funds and separate accounts.

You’ll be joining the global property arm of DWS. The Iberian team manages a wide range of accounts and strategies on behalf of a global client base of international investors. The local portfolio comprises assets from all sectors with a focus on office, retail and residential investments.

Role Details  

You’ll take over the responsibility as the Head of Real Estate Asset Management DACH (m/f/d) for the asset management team in Frankfurt and its portfolio in Germany and Austria. The reporting line will be to the Head of Real Estate Asset Management, Europe, located out of Frankfurt.

Key responsibilities:

• Preparing and agreeing with client’s annual asset business plans, including capital and operational expenditure budget
• Regular review of the portfolio to identify and execute asset management initiatives to create and/or protect value
• Advising clients and providing recommendations in accordance with client mandates, including hold sell performance analysis
• Selecting, tendering and managing the appointment of external specialist advisors to provide professional services, such as legal, tax and leasing
• Managing external Property Managers to ensure collection of rental income and compliance by tenants with lease covenants, as well as assuring the proper technical management of the assets
• Supporting and promoting the DWS Real Estate business ‘Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG)´ objectives and encouraging best practice engagement by occupiers and advisors
• Work in close cooperation with the local transaction team to ensure a one-team-approach for acquisitions and dispositions
• Leading a team of 4 direct reports, thereof 3 team leads and with a total team size of 18 team members. The team is organized in 3 sub-team focusing on asset classes.
• Ensuring the overall performance of the local asset management team, including the fulfilment of the asset level business plans, compliance with regulatory requirements and meeting reporting deadlines

The Functional role title for this role is Lead Asset Manager & Team Lead Real Estate. 

We are looking for 

• Minimum of 15 years of real estate asset management experience (retail, office, logistics, hotel, experience in health care and residential are beneficial)
• Experience in repositions, refurbishments and project management.
• A broad and diverse experience in the German real estate markets with a strong network of industry contacts
• Fluent, both in writing and verbal, in German and English
• Excellent communication skills in an international environment
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills
• Profound leadership skills with experience in directly managing individuals
• Capability of liaising with different stakeholders in a global organization
• Understanding of the regulatory requirements of the German Investment Act considered beneficial.
