At the modern 3rd generation synchrotron radiation source PETRA III, beamline P61B is dedicated to high pressure and high temperature science. With its 6-piston large volume press this beamline operates for internal and external users in geosciences and materials science. We are seeking a motivated engineer for the technical development and user operation, as well as for the development of a new beamline at the upgraded facility PETRA IV.
- Design, installation and commissioning of beamline components with CAD as defined by the beamline scientists
- Technical support at the beamline station
- Ready to assist users and beamline staff with their experimental needs (LVP and surrounding instrumentation)
- Programming and support of the controls software specific to the beamline
- Technical development and implementation of the successor beamline at PETRA IV
- Working in a team of scientists and with other engineers, scientific users and international partners

Limited: 2 years with the option of permanent employment
- Bachelor or Master in Engineering science, focus mechanics, mechatronics, electronics, physical techniques or similar foci
- Knowledge in designed using 3d-CAD, preferable Siemens-NX
- Knowledge in technical programming, preferable using Python
- Knowledge in technical controls and measurements
- Basic knowledge in vacuum techniques, optics, electronics
- Experience in working with complex scientific instrumentation
- Working in a team of scientists, communication skills
- Structured and solution oriented working
- Hands-on experience, enjoying technical work
- Good German and English skill, written and oral
