WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

We will soon be founding a separate company in our Agricultural Solutions division, which would then also employ our employees on a permanent basis. To bridge the gap, you will be employed by BASF SE on a temporary basis with the simultaneous binding promise of permanent employment in the new company.

IP is crucial for Agricultural Solutions (AP) to secure its protected revenue and licensing business. For this purpose, we are seeking a Head of IP Operations to lead our global, multi-tiered IP Operations team within AP’s newly built IP unit.

• In your new role as Head of IP Operations, you are responsible for the local disciplinary and global operational management of AP's IP backbone.
• You take over the global operational management of all IP clerks (IP-paralegals and IP-administration) in AP (locations in the USA, Ghent, Nunhems, Limburgerhof), including interface management with patent attorneys in all AP-IP locations.
• Furthermore, you are in charge of the central IP management system (IPMS), including quality management, global interface management, adoption to global law changes and digital process innovation.
• You assume responsibility for the interface management and optimization with global patent offices, BASF-internal and external IP service providers as well as the entire global pool of IP law firms.
• Finally, you are responsible for the quality management of all IP processes, including the development and implementation of appropriate key performance indicators, analysis as well as reporting tools, and for the delegated procurement of IP legal and IT services.

WHAT YOU OFFER

• qualification as patent attorney or equivalent experience (master’s degree in a scientific field combined with legal qualification) with at least 8 years of experience in IP and 5 years in a leading position
• expertise in adapting and optimizing IP management systems like Anaquas IPMS (including bots, A.I. tools and specific service providers)
• skilled in analyzing legal regulations, drawing conclusions as well as communicating to stakeholders and implementing necessary steps
• excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, with a strong commitment to building relationships within the global IP community and an entrepreneurial mindset
