Summary:
- Voith Paper offers internship to college students in a variety of business functions, including operations, engineering , sales, finance, lean manufacturing and more. Interns are given meaningful projects that contribute to Voith Paper's business.
- Voith interns are exposed to a general overview of our company, customers, and operations. Interns are placed in locations that have a demonstrated track record of leadership development. The Engineering Manager serves as the intern's mentor and ensures that a fast-paced, challenging learning environment is created.
- Interns undergo a one-week orientation program designed to give a general overview of the business and assigned project. During this one-week period the intern may also receive customized Lean Manufacturing training and focus on Operational Excellence.
- The second week of the internship may be spent shadowing successful plant operations and engineering employees. The purpose of this week is to gain an understanding of the unique role our operations and engineering professional play in the success of our customer business. During this time a Business Enhancement or Lean Project will be assigned to the intern by the Engineering Manager.
- During week three and beyond the Intern will divide time executing and completing projects, as well as continued development of general skills. The Intern will be given the opportunity to report project progress and results in a formal presentation to management towards the end of the twelve-week internship.
Required Qualifications
- Enrolled as a full-time student or recently graduate from an accredited college or university with Mechanical / Industrial / Aerospace Engineering or related Undergraduate program.
- Demonstrated interest in Mechanical Engineering or related field and have a strong desire to advance skills related to VOITH’s work and projects.
- Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
- Passion for learning about and contributing to our business.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others to obtain effective results.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Demonstrated interest to work in a shop environment and not afraid to get hands dirty.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Autodesk Inventor or similar CAD tool.
- Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.
- Prior experience in mechanical drafting.
- Familiarity with mechanical measurement tools.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Prolonged periods standing and performing repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at a time.
- Must have excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to differentiate between colored wires, tabs, and electronic components.
- Must wear safety shoes, gloves, eye and ear protection (when necessary).
