RESPONSIBILITIES

Our research group evaluates hazardous potentials posed by deviations from standard operating conditions of chemical production plants and defines effective countermeasures. In this, we exploit modern software tools and develop custom apps for modelling and simulation, their selection and quantification are essential requirements for the safe operation of our plants at BASF.

  • You will contribute innovative ideas and technical expertise in the further development of a simulation toolbox for consequence analysis (i.e., the risk assessment of toxic or flammable gas clouds based on leakage scenarios).
  • In addition, you will work with fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer processes, as well as the thermodynamics of mixtures.
  • Furthermore, you will create a model library and extend your knowledge of object-oriented programming.
  • You will identify optimization potentials and develop solution strategies proactively.
  • Last but not least, you will be part of the project team from the beginning and actively participate in the determination of upcoming tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • enrolled master's student in a science or engineering degree
  • above-average knowledge in heat and mass transfer, modeling and simulation
  • first programming experience in Python or Matlab
  • excellent communication skills in both German and English
  • enthusiasm for solving complex process engineering problems with tailored software tools
  • joy to use digital tools and to actively search optimization potential for own processes
  • high motivation to achieve success together as a team
