A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will ensure that only quality-capable suppliers are integrated into the Voith Hydro supply chain, contributing to the development of a reliable and cost-efficient supplier base. You will oversee supplier approval, evaluation, and continuous improvement, supporting both quality assurance and process optimization initiatives.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Qualify and approve suppliers through audits and continuous development in line with Voith Hydro requirements.
  • Ensure implementation of preventive quality actions at suppliers.
  • Support and follow up on supplier preventive quality activities (e.g., PFMEAs).
  • Evaluate, release, or block suppliers based on performance and defined criteria; initiate supplier blocking processes when required.
  • Manage and monitor supplier performance using defined KPIs and drive improvement measures.
  • Track supplier certifications and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
  • Support and drive cost optimization initiatives (e.g., OPEX, Lean projects).
  • Contribute to sourcing strategies and schedules, ensuring quality requirements are fully integrated.
  • Participate in key supplier meetings (e.g., Kick-off Meetings) to provide quality-related input.
  • Conduct process audits and verifications at supplier sites to confirm quality integration and compliance.
  • Plan and coordinate inspections and FATs at supplier facilities; report inspection results to Project Quality Engineers.
  • Capture and implement lessons learned (both positive and negative) within the management system.
  • Collaborate with Supplier Development and Purchasing teams on supplier identification and order management from a quality perspective.
  • Support additional Quality Department tasks and priorities as defined by the Supplier Quality Manager, Head of Quality, or Voith Hydro Quality leadership.

What You Bring

  • Availability for frequent business travel (approx. 70% of the time).
  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, or equivalent).
  • Postgraduate qualification in Business Administration (desirable).
  • Proven experience in Quality Management, Quality Engineering, or Supplier Quality Management.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience, including exposure to Manufacturing, Logistics, Engineering, or Purchasing processes.
  • Auditor qualification according to ISO 9001 (Lead Auditor certification is an advantage).
  • Qualification in electrical, dimensional, and NDT testing.
  • Knowledge of key processing technologies (e.g., casting, forging, machining, fabrication, assembly, welding, or others).
  • Practical experience with IT tools such as SAP, SharePoint, MS Office, and database tracking systems.
  • Familiarity with Lean Management principles (an advantage).
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and drive results.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages are an asset.
  • A results-oriented, pragmatic, and customer-focused mindset with strong problem-solving ability.
