Application Owner (m/f/d) - Cost Calculation Tool

As Application Owner (m/f/d), you are responsible for the management and further development of our internal cost calculation tool. The role ensures that the application operates efficiently, meets current requirements, and is aligned with Voith’s estimating processes. In this interface function, you coordinate the standardization of processes across departments, ensure data integrity, and support users through training and troubleshooting.
Your tasks
- Internal ownership of the cost calculation tool, including software support, maintenance, and updates, ensures system reliability and compliance with Voith IT standards. User access, workflows, and security settings are managed and maintained.
- Existing estimating processes at Voith are translated into tool structures and reporting frameworks. Workflows are documented, and close coordination with departments such as estimating, procurement, IT, finance, and project delivery establishes a common process basis.
- Acting as the central point of contact for standardized cost models and reference data, you will build and maintain structured libraries for equipment, materials, subcontractor services, and labor rates, utilizing existing cost models, ERP data, supplier quotes, and historical project data. Continuous expansion of the knowledge base is part of the role.
- Material and manufacturing cost analyses are performed to validate and adjust calculation values. Variance analyses (planned vs. actual) for completed projects are conducted, with corresponding updates to cost models.
- Practical and digital training sessions for users focus on daily workflows, maintenance of the knowledge base, and report generation. System administrators are supported with configuration training, and e-learning materials are provided for self-paced learning.
- Responsibility for all development and testing activities ensures reliable, high-quality software delivery. By independently managing internal enhancements, dependency on third-party vendors is reduced and consistent quality standards are maintained.
- Coordination with departments such as data management, product management, procurement, engineering, and manufacturing is essential. Support is also provided to international subsidiaries on cost-related inquiries.
Your profile
- You have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with cost estimation tools, ERP systems, and project cost management rounds off your profile.
- You possess strong knowledge of data modeling, reporting, and process standardization.
- Familiarity with cost calculation software is a plus.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills set you apart.
- You are able to lead cross-functional collaboration and training initiatives.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, is required.
- Very good written and spoken English skills as well as intercultural competence for working with international stakeholders are required.
This position is based exclusively at our Voith Hydro locations in Noida and Vadodara and is not a remote position.
