We are currently seeking a Business Affairs Executive that will provide support across all of the scripted, unscripted and features deals in Germany.
Key job responsibilities
• Negotiate deal terms for production companies, IP, and above-the-line talent to achieve business objectives and support wider Amazon goals.
• Navigate ambiguity by adapting quickly and solving unfamiliar problems without predefined guidance.
• Communicate across teams including Creative, Production, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and external stakeholders.
• Manage high-volume workloads efficiently while staying composed under pressure.
• Advise senior-level executives and build strong relationships through clear risk analysis and cross-departmental collaboration.
A day in the life
The candidate will negotiate and/or manage negotiations of commercial deal terms with and for production companies, producers, IP incl. original scripts, book rights, format rights, ATL incl. writers, directors, on-screen talent, and other related deals.
The candidate will interact with managers, agents, managing directors and outside attorneys and will efficiently communicate status and tradeoffs with other members of the Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video team including Creative, Production, Marketing, Finance, Tax, Accounting, Legal and Distribution, as well as executives outside of Amazon.
The candidate will apply a comprehensive working knowledge of international film and TV industry business models, development and production methodologies. The candidate will also demonstrate the ability to think abstractly, adapt quickly in ambiguous or unstructured environments, and effectively navigate new or unfamiliar situations and problems without predefined guidance.
The candidate will manage a varied, high-volume workload efficiently and smoothly, operate within corporate parameters, and remain cool and levelheaded in high-pressure situations. The candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues in this department and across Amazon, build strong internal client relationships, effectively advise senior-level executives under time-sensitive conditions, and generate client satisfaction through clear thinking and risk analysis.
- Experience with complex commercial agreements (underlying rights, work-for-hire productions, co-productions, licenses, distribution) and talent agreements (authors, writers, directors, actors, producers) with a solid understanding of legal terminology and reasoning.
- Experience in the entertainment sector, representing or working for a media law firm, film or television production company, studio or network.
- Experience with the entertainment industry, customs, and practices.
- Speak, write, and read fluently in German and English.
- Understanding of media business models and the ability to devise new ones
- Experience in streaming deal making.
- Deep interest in technology and innovation.
