DESY´s group for accelerator beam control (MSK) is an international and cross-technology team of scientists, engineers and technicians. Among other technological fields, we are developing and operating specialised electron beam diagnostics, laser-based synchronisation systems and feedback controls for the accelerators at DESY. We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to actively contribute to innovations in the field of electro-optical measurement methods and laser-based beam diagnostics at the European XFEL. This research activity includes experimental work with accelerator-based THz sources and femtosecond lasers, as well as the development of algorithms for efficient and precise data analytics.

Limited: 2 years

About you:

  • PhD in physics of engineering science
  • Profound practical and theoretical background in laser physics including fiber optics
  • Practical experience with accelerator-based THz sources is of advantage
  • Good knowledge of English is required, knowledge of German is of advantage
  • Proactive working style with high level of commitment in solving complex tasks
  • Strong teamwork skills in an interdisciplinary environment
