Summary:

This is a sales position focused on the forming product line within a specific region, carrying various responsibilities detailed below.

A person in this position will use strategic selling skills to identify and develop business growth opportunities in the forming section. The Forming Sales Leader collaborates with Regional Sales Managers and regional sales teams to create and implement a strategic forming sales growth plan for the region.

The role involves working closely with regional sales teams, product management, and other Voith colleagues, as well as engaging directly with key decision makers and resources in customer accounts. It is responsible for forming sales and orders compared to an annual target, managing the regional forming strategic growth plan, planning and executing forming trials, and overseeing opportunity management.

The position aims to develop expertise in forming and apply value-based selling skills. While technical service tasks may occasionally be required to support the sales process, this is not a forming service position. A significant part of the role involves gathering information, preparing, and presenting solutions to optimize the forming section and enhance performance with Voith forming fabrics.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with customers and decision makers to understand their specific goals and needs and communicate those needs within Voith.
  • Develop and execute regional forming strategic growth plan aligned with customer goals and the regional business strategy.
  • Collect and analyze customer data to monitor product performance, differentiate Voith products from competition or identify continuous improvement opportunities at customer sites. Promote value-added products/services and present any necessary data analysis or reports for customer understanding and acceptance.
  • Promote applicable forming products from a customer-benefit standpoint. This includes developing SME-level knowledge of forming and forming products and presenting to customers.
  • Participate in sales forecasting and forming opportunity management.
  • Make sales calls to customer mills to promote forming sales.
  • Support the local sales and service team with higher level technical service / studies. These should be aimed at former optimization in conjunction with Voith forming fabrics and can included drainage optimization, benchmarking key former setup parameters (harmonics, delivery, etc.).
  • Publish visit reports, measurement reports and maintain opportunities in SalesForce to communicate and archive mill activities.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Secondary education preferred but not required with relevant work experience.
  • Experience in technical / industrial sales or experience in the paper industry preferred.
  • Willingness to travel frequently, primarily by car. Overnight hotel stays required at times.
  • Good communication skills required, both verbal and written.
  • Analytical thinking and familiarity with standard Microsoft software programs required.
  • Ability to demonstrate data analysis experience and to discuss methodology and tools.

Training Plan:

  • Selling skills – there will be an initial and likely ongoing formal training in professional selling skills.
  • Forming products – training with the product management and forming operations group to develop or enhance product and manufacturing knowledge.
  • Forming section training – this will include spending time with current forming Subject Matter Experts in various mills to gain knowledge on different formers or applications and associated issues and opportunities.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, climb stairs, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. Standard Personal Protective Equipment is required frequently including ear plugs, hard-hat, safety glasses and safety-toed shoes.
