HSE Intern

Summary – This position is responsible for identifying, controlling, and eliminating HSE issues that may pose a threat to workers, the environment, or communities. Essential duties and responsibilities include design and implementation of HSE programs that ensures the company success in achieving a “world-class” safety culture at all levels within the organization with focus on construction sites within US.

Responsibilities –

  • Maintains HSE Management System and documentation for HSE at VHNA.
  • Conducts 8x8x8 New Hire HSE Training for all Manufacturing employees.
  • Participates in daily, weekly and monthly safety audits at VHY campus.
  • Conduct incident investigations and near miss events with Supervision, perform root cause analysis, issue requests for corrective actions (internal & external) and track/follow-up on open items.
  • Develops HSE Communications, HSE Flash Alerts, Incident Investigations Lessons Learned, and Corrective Actions
  • Develops HSE plans and regulatory submittal to include, JSA’s, Emergency Response, SOP’s, Fall Protection Plans, Lead/Asbestos, and others directly related to HSE for the successful prevention/ reduction in incidents.
  • Conducts Hazard Risk Assessments and Chemical Risk Assessments.
  • Update and Maintain Contractor Safety Systems, i.e., ISNetworld, Veriforce, Cognibox, etc.

Qualifications –

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Currently enrolled in an HSE program at a University/College/Trade
  • Strong analytical, conceptual and implementation skills
  • Strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Detail oriented, well organized, high degree of accuracy.
  • Must possess strong customer service, follow up, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under time constraints and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.

Physical Demands – Employees in this position are regularly required to walk, stand and use hands to finger, handle or feel. They are frequently required to reach with hands and arms. They are occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employees are required to talk and hear in an industrial setting (noise level can be high at times) and regularly required to lift ten pounds and occasionally required to lift to fifty pounds.
