Thesis: Experimental nonlinear modal analysis applied to a component test of variable guide vanes

To validate newly developed simulation tools precise and comprehensive measurements of component tests close to engine conditions are necessary. State-of-the-art predictions of high cycle fatigue (HCF) leads to amplitude dependent characteristics due to its contact mechanics, which can be captured experimentally by a nonlinear modal analysis (NMA). The current approach by MTU is based on force transducers and displacement sensors measuring the applied active power. However, a refined method was recently proposed to omit the force measurement and make its results more robust in terms of excitation level.
